My Side, South Side: Ain’t She Sweet Cafe

Chicago is a mecca of great food. Awesome food can be found in every neighborhood. Great food can be found on my side, the South Side. I know that most of my reviews have been of restaurants located in the Loop even though I patronize my fair share of restaurants on the South side. What I appreciate about my faves on the South side, is that you can get Loop quality meals at South side prices. With that said, at least once a month, I will highlight a food establishment on my side, the South side.

First up is an establishment that I was introduced to in the Summer of 2013. I sat in this restaurant and enjoyed a Caribbean Jerk Chicken Wrap that had me hooked from the first bite. And of course, I kept going back. The chicken is seasoned with a touch of jerk spices. The chicken is packed in a wrap with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and jerk sauce. This favorite can be found at Ain’t She Sweet Cafe, located in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood at 526 E. 43rd Street.

After umpteen times of ordering the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Wrap, I decided to order something different. The chalkboard listed the day’s special, Chipotle Chicken. Rice, beans, corn, cheese, and tortilla chips were listed as additional ingredients in the sandwich. I decided to get the Chipotle Chicken in a spinach wrap.

The spicy chicken, rice, and beans were the perfect combination of delicious. The chipotle seasoning didn’t overpower the wrap. I was able to taste the fresh condiments added to the wrap with each bite.

Ain’t She Sweet Cafe sells an array of sandwiches, wraps, paninis, salads, soups, smoothies, and shakes. You can also choose from an assortment from ice cream flavors and desserts. My favorite dessert is the Honey Cream Cheese Sweet Potato Pie from Jimmy Jamm Sweet Potato Pies located in the Beverly neighborhood.

When you are on the South side, checkout Ain’t She Sweet Cafe. You won’t be disappointed 🙂
